About me

I am an economist and educator by profession. By passion, I am a lifelong martial arts practitioner and a dedicated aviator. 

I had always dreamed of learning to fly. When I finally pursued this dream, it manifested into a second love, becoming an indelible part of my identity. I learnt that sharing this wonderful passion with my children, with friends and with fellow aviators became a source of great joy in my life. I have had the good fortune to have truly outstanding instructors who have since become good friends. I continue to fly as often as I can and to learn from each flight and, most poignantly, from my mistakes, trying to fill the bag of experience before I empty the bag of luck, as is said in aviation.

I created this website as a vehicle of expression and of outreach in what has been and remains a thrilling journey. I live in Greece with my wife and four children, although I have also spent years of my life in the United Kingdom, in France and in Japan. Born and raised in Greece, of dual British and Greek ancestry, from a young age I felt the calling of Bushin, the Martial Spirit. My studies in authentic Asian martial arts led me to seek out the traditional warrior arts in the Far East; a 40-year journey that continues into the present.

Witnessing the world from aloft alters one's perspectives in subtle ways that reverberate within their being long after walking away from another safe landing. My passion for photography in flight, capturing these unrepeatable moments, remains a strong vehicle of expression and preservation of my experiences. Our world, despite humanity's consistent efforts to ruin it, is a magnificent home, and our life span is fleeting. With this last in mind, I try to cultivate gratitude for each moment and to reflect on the life/death lessons imparted on the path of the Martial Way, being wholly applicable to the aerial realm. 

Elevated Vision represents a communion of thoughts and images, offered in humility to fellow travellers along our unrepeatable journey of life.
